Jan Powell is an interior decorator and licensed floral designer who takes her natural design talent and style and provides her clients with stunning indoor and outdoor projects.

Born and raised on V8 Ranch, Jan began her design and floral business by specializing in elegant western interior decorating and rustic ranch décor. Even today, many of her clients are fellow ranchers and rodeo professionals who are looking for an interior designer  who can capture the western design heritage in their homes, offices, and even their trailers. Jan frequently travels nationwide to consult with clients looking for rustic ranch decorating and elegant western furniture arrangements.

Throughout her life, many close friends and family members have called upon Jan for her advice on interior décor and landscape design.  As word of mouth of Jan’s talents began to spread, many people in the Houston area began asking Jan for her advice on design. However, during this time, she was so busy with her rodeo business that she did not pursue a career in design at that time.

In the late 1990s, Jan signed a modeling contract with Wrangler Jeans, and appeared in their advertising as a representative of the modern ranch and rodeo woman. This collaboration opened many new doors for Jan and put her in contact with the industry’s leading professionals in western apparel and western retail. After her appearances with Wrangler, Jan became an interior design consultant to create living spaces for several of the leading equine trailer manufacturers for their new line of “live-in” rodeo trailers. She represented these companies for many years at the NFR where she worked one-on-one with many of the rodeo industry’s top contestants to create their dream

space for theirhorse and livestock trailers. Her clients were so satisfied with her design services that the trailer company created a special “Jan Powell Signature Series” trailer.

Jan has continually expanded her design consultation services through the years, each year taking on a few more clients as her time allowed. Today, she spends about half of her time on her horse business, and the other half on her interior design and florist business. In 2011, she became an officially licensed floral designer and launched “Rooms to Blooms. Since offering her services to the general public in 2011, Jan has been blessed with an extremely fast-growing client base of many happy, satisfied clients who credit Rooms to Blooms with helping them achieve a great indoor or outdoor decorating or floral project.

Jan attended Sam Houston State University on a rodeo scholarship, where she married her husband Terry, who she met through high school rodeo. After graduation, the Powells moved back to Jan’s family ranch in Hungerford, Texas, where they have operated the V8 Ranch Horse Division since 1982. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Jan and Terry were seasoned professionals on the PRCA circuit, winning numerous barrel racing futurities and calf ropings.

Today, Jan is still an avid rodeo professional and supports and trains her daughter, Payton, on the high school rodeo circuit. Payton has won over 40 saddles in her youth rodeo career and plans to also attend college on a rodeo scholarship. Jan also provides horse training services and barrel racing and roping lessons for youth rodeo contestants.   Jan is a member of the Abell Street Church of Christ and is a fond supporter and volunteer of youth rodeo associations and events.

Regardless of the project she completes, Jan takes pride in what she does, and offers each and every client the highest level of professional interior and floral design services.
